- Always wear sunglasses with UV filtered lenses to protect your eyes from the sun's harmful rays.
- Do not ever air dry after a swim. Always towel dry. Water drops act as a magnifying glass.
- Always use a sunscreen even on a cloudy day. Reapply it regularly.
- Apply your sunscreen 15 minutes before you go out in the sun to give it time to absorb.
- When you are sitting outside always sit in the shade.
- Protect your hair from the sun and chemicals in pools. Use products that have a protective layer of silicone and UV protection.
- Wear a higher SPF sunscreen on your face.
- Have your moles checked regularly, especially any that come up after exposure to the sun.
- Salt water and chemicals in pools are drying to your skin, so take showers immediately after you have been swimming.
- Use a sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection. Look for ingredients like avobenzone (absorbs and deactivates rays) or titanium dioxide (blocks rays and bounces them away from the body).
- Make sure you drink plenty of water so you will not become dehydrated.
